Central Park was a tough and consistent performer for Godolphin, winning six of his 16 lifetime starts; he won the Group 1 Italian Derby (May 1998) in determined fashion and continued his globetrotting exploits with a typically tenacious win in the Group 2 Europachampionat at Hoppegarten later that season; enhanced his already impressive profile with a smart win in the Group 1 Premio Presidente della Repubblica at Capannelle at four and saved arguably the best run of his life for his final start, finishing a half-length second under top-weight from an unfavourable draw in the Melbourne Cup
