Top-class performer; won first two starts in novice company; gelded and then creditable effort in defeat under a double penalty at Sandown in June; fourth in Royal Ascot's King George V Stakes Handicap before good winner back there in July; followed that up when landing the Group 3 Gordon Stakes at Goodwood; just edged out in the Group 2 Great Voltigeur but then a comfortable winner of the Melbourne Cup (Group 1 Handicap) in November; readily won Meydan's Group 2 2m Dubai Gold Cup in March and finished fourth in Royal Ascot's 2m4f Group 1 Gold Cup on soft in June; third in the Group 1 Goodwood Cup afterwards; close eighth on Melbourne Cup repeat bid in November on good to soft. Returned at Riyadh in February 2020, finishing fifth of 14 in valuable 1m7f event; stayed on into third behind Stradivarius in Ascot Gold Cup next time, going one better than he had the previous year; filled same position, albeit well held, in Group 3 Henry II Stakes at Sandown subsequently.
