Slickly was trained by Andre Fabre as a 2yo and 3yo, winning four times from seven starts, including the 1999 Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris; made his debut for Godolphin in June 2000 and won the Group 3 La Coupe and the Group 2 Prix Dollar at Longchamp that year, but he really came to hand in the autumn of his 5yo season, running away from the subsequent Breeders' Cup Filly And Mare Turf winner Banks Hill in the Group 1 Prix du Moulin at Longchamp before winning the Group 1 Premio Vittorio di Capua at San Siro; reappeared to win the latter contest a year later, which proved to be his final start; effective from 1m to 1m3f; effective on good and softer ground
