Place in the G1 Sun Chariot Stakes for Cinderella’s Dream

Cinderella's Dream found the combination of rain-softened ground and a strong tailwind against her as she finished third in the G1 Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket, UK, on Saturday, 4 October.
A comprehensive winner of the G2 Dahlia Stakes at the same course in May, the two-time G1 scorer was held up in fourth of a group of five that raced towards the stands’ side, with Fallen Angel leading the other four runners down the centre of the course.
Cinderella’s Dream stayed on after the field converged three furlongs out and the daughter of Shamardal pressed for third as Fallen Angel and Blue Bolt quickened clear entering the final quarter-mile.
Too Darn Hot filly Fallen Angel took control inside the final furlong to defeat Blue Bolt (Blue Point) by two and a quarter lengths. Cinderella’s Dream prevailed over Lady Of Spain following a sustained battle for third, crossing the line four and a half lengths behind the runner-up.
Trainer Charlie Appleby said: “Cinderella’s Dream has run a solid race. The ground was probably the slowest she has encountered, as most of her form has been on a quicker surface. We will see how she comes out of the race before having a discussion over whether we head back to Del Mar for the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf.”
