Tarifa added a G1 placing to a pair of G2 victories with a valiant third behind Thorpedo Anna and Gun Song in the Cotillion Stakes at Parx Racecourse, USA, on Saturday, 21 September.
The Rachel Alexandra Stakes and Fair Grounds Oaks winner stumbled slightly leaving the stalls but soon recovered to race in a clear fourth of the eight runners, some two lengths behind the leading trio of Mystic Lake, Thorpedo Anna and Gun Song.
Tarifa took closer order to dispute third on the outside of Thorpedo Anna at the halfway point and briefly hemmed in the Kentucky Oaks scorer until shifting out at the top of the straight.
The Brad Cox-trained filly was only a length off the lead until Thorpedo Anna and Gun Song went clear entering the final furlong. Tarifa kept to her task under Flavien Prat, comfortably seeing off Mystic Lake for third to go down by just under four lengths in total.
