Trawlerman’s superb season was recognised at the 2025 Cartier Racing Awards on Wednesday, 19 November, with the John & Thady Gosden-trained seven-year-old receiving the Cartier Stayer accolade.

During an unbeaten European campaign, Trawlerman stamped his dominance of the staying ranks with four impressive wins including breaking the track record with a relentless display in the G1 Gold Cup at Royal Ascot.

Trawlerman returned to Ascot in October, where he once again impressed when winning the G1 British Champions Long Distance Cup, adding to other 2025 wins in the G3 Henry II Stakes and G2 Lonsdale Cup.

Hugh Anderson, Managing Director of Godolphin (UK and Dubai), said: “2025 has been another outstanding year for Godolphin, headed of course by the four Classic wins at the start of May, but also reaching 250 individual G1 winners earlier this month.

"Trawlerman has been simply outstanding this season, remaining unbeaten in the UK and giving the team two fantastic days at Ascot when winning the Gold Cup in record time, and the Long Distance Cup on Champions Day - undoubtedly two of Europe's premier staying contests.
"I would like to thank John and Thady Gosden, plus the whole team at Clarehaven for doing such a splendid job to enable Trawlerman to enjoy his best ever season at the age of seven. Credit is also due to the teams on the studs in Ireland where he was foaled and raised.
"Our thanks must also go to Cartier for their support of these awards for 35 years, everyone who voted and of course our Principal, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed.”
