The property was purchased in 2006 to provide access to premier stallions that Victorian breeders would have previously had to source from the Hunter Valley.

Northwood Park is situated just over an hour north-east of Melbourne in the Goulburn Valley at Seymour. It includes the stallion complex, covering sheds and facilities for visiting mares. Northwood Park was originally developed as a horse and cattle property by AG Hunter, who raced and stood the 1925 Melbourne Cup winner Windbag on the property, whose headstone can still be found on the farm.
