Abu Qir Bay back on familiar route for G3 Silk Road Stakes

Abu Qir Bay returns to the course and distance of her biggest success to date for the G3 Silk Road Stakes at Kyoto, Japan, on Sunday, 1 February.

The Fine Needle filly, who is trained by Tomoyasu Sakaguchi, stormed home to take the G3 Aoi Stakes over the same six-furlong distance at the end of May.

Abu Qir Bay has taken on established sprinters in three subsequent appearances, with the homebred four-year-old finishing a close third in the G3 Kitakyushu Kinen before coming home sixth in both the G2 Centaur Stakes and G3 Keihan Hai.
