Bold Act was headed on the line by Highway Robber as he attempted to win the G3 Sycamore Stakes for a second successive year at Keeneland, USA, on Friday, 11 October.
After breaking half a stride slow in the 12-furlong contest, Bold Act soon disputed sixth on the outside of Utah Beach, some six lengths behind the pace-setting Cathkin Peak.
The Charlie Appleby-trained four-year-old travelled exuberantly for Luis Saez throughout and took closer order around the field to go fifth leaving the far turn for the final time.
Dataman took over from Cathkin Peak approaching the final quarter-mile, with Bold Act staying on strongly in the straight to take up the running with just over a furlong to race.
Highway Robber pressed a rallying Bold Act throughout the final furlong and joined the Godolphin runner on the line, getting the verdict in a photo finish to prevail by a nose in a course record time.
