Knightsbridge strikes gold in G3 Mr Prospector Stakes
Knightsbridge set himself up for some big targets in 2026 as he made all for a dominant win in the G3 Mr Prospector Stakes at Gulfstream Park, USA, on Saturday, 27 December.
The half-brother to Speaker’s Corner, returning to Graded company on the back of an easy allowance optional claimer success at Aqueduct, broke alertly and soon established a length and a half lead over Wound Up in the seven-furlong contest.
Wound Up and Super Chow closed to within a neck at the halfway point and attempted to challenge Knightsbridge turning in, with the Bill Mott-trained four-year-old reasserting his advantage at the top of the straight.
Briefly shaken up by Junior Alvarado approaching the final furlong, Knightsbridge found plenty and was allowed to coast home to prevail by nearly five lengths.
Bill Mott said: “Knightsbridge had a good break and a good trip. He was on the lead with reasonable fractions, which helped him out, and finished very well. Hopefully, there are more things to come with him.
“Speaker’s Corner won the Fred W Hooper and Gulfstream Park Mile here, and Knightsbridge has shown that he likes the track. If he stays healthy and stays good, we will bring him back for the same races.”
