Vertbois runner-up in G3 Prix Perth

Vertbois placed in Group company for a third time this season as he chased home Sparks Fly in the G3 Prix Perth at Saint-Cloud, France, on Sunday, 26 October. 

Runner-up to Tribalist in the G2 Prix du Muguet over the course and distance in May, the Andre Fabre-trained four-year-old soon settled in fourth as Sparks Fly and Saidi El Fal battled for the early lead. 

Sparks Fly opened up daylight over the field after kicking for home over two furlongs out, with Vertbois making headway up the inside rail to go second with a furlong and a half to race. 

Vertbois stuck to his task under Cristian Demuro, seeing off the challenges of Chibitty and Elim to finish a clear second, four lengths behind the winner.
