Wet Paint produced her customary late rally to take third in the G3 Shawnee Stakes at Churchill Downs, USA, on Saturday, 1 June.
The Brad Cox-trained filly, who had finished sixth on her four-year-old return in the G1 Apple Blossom Stakes in April, raced closer to the pace this time and disputed third down the inner rail behind Xigera and Scylla.
Xigera, Scylla and Hoosier Philly kicked away from the rest of the field turning in, leaving Wet Paint in a remote fourth at the top of the straight.
Last season’s G1 Coaching Club American Oaks winner flashed home inside the final furlong for Flavien Prat, edging out Hoosier Philly for third near the line.
